Roadstar celebrated it’s 20th anniversary in 2008 and marked the completion of a very successful period for the Melbourne manufacturers, which led to being one of Australia's largest caravan manufacturers.

There is a perception amongst the caravanning community that a Roadstar van is one of the more luxurious products around – With an Australia wide dealer network, the company nevertheless designs a variety of models, from smaller pop tops through to large luxury ensuite caravans, to cater for a myriad of variations in the ever-expanding caravanning demographic.

Roadstar Caravans is now a division of Australian Hitec Engineering Pty Ltd (Est. 1976), manufacturing caravan chassis since 1994, and proudly supplying Roadstar Industries Pty Ltd, which previously manufactured the Roadstar range of caravans.

Roadstar's First Caravan

Roadstar Industries Pty. Ltd was severly affected by both the Global, and economic crisis during 2008 and early 2009. On the 13th Febraury 2009 the company was placed under administration and eventually the company was liquidated.

Australian Hitec Engineering Pty. Ltd. was a major creditor of Roadstar Industries Pty. Ltd. and proudly supported the previous owners. The collapse of Roadstar was most unfortunate for all concerned. Australian Hitec Engineering saw an opportunity to enter the caravan manufacturing sector at this time and explored many options. After many attempts, Australian Hitec Engineering was eventually successful in bidding for Roadstar trademarks. They also purchased plant and equipment used by the former company.

Mangaging Director of Australian Hitec Engineering Pty. Ltd., Ken Nizam, strongly emphasised that the new "Roadstar Caravans" will continue to be the same premier product and will be the household name when thinking of purchasing a new caravan.

"Our vision is to build a caravan with uncompromising quality and we have employed many of the craftsmen who built the previous Roadstar Caravans. Today Roadstar will develop newer, more modern designs with emphasis on quality, a true home away from home with all the comforts you would expect from a Roadstar".

The home of Roadstar Caravans is located at 4 – 6 Lisa Place, Coolaroo., Victoria 3048 in the heart of the Northern Industrial sector of Hume City Shire, situated behind the Ford Motor Co.

"We are endeavouring to develop lightweight caravans. We have developed and patented a lighter caravan chassis. The development is in the initial stages and the chassis is currently undergoing engineering testing, and will only be released after final testing and approval", Ken Nizam said.
